S-100 Boards For Sale

There is now a growing network of S-100 computer collectors. If you have a board or computer  for sale please let me know I will add it to a list on this page (see below) for free. Please include a description of the board, asking price, phone number if required and  an e-mail address. (Only boards with a valid e-mail address will be accepted).

S100Computers & N8VEM Boards Status and Order List
As you can see in other sections of this site Andrew Lynch and I have and will continue to make custom S-100 boards for our own use.  A lot of work goes into designing and manufacturing these boards. Typically they start off as a point to point wire (or wire wrapped) soldered prototype board. Then a long process at arriving at an efficient schematic is carried out.  A first prototype board is then manufactured. The process may have to be repeated before a final commercial quality board is made.

Realizing a number of others may want to use these boards we have opened the final "commercial" board to others that may wish to obtain them. These are high commercial quality but bare S-100 boards. You have to add your own IC sockets chips etc. A schematic and assembly instructions is provided for each board however on this web site.

Please remember however this is NOT a commercial venture. The boards will be ordered in batches and little "hand holding" will be provided in their building. That said, the good news is that we can usually provide the boards cheaply (~$20-40 each) payable via PayPal when we get them from the manufacturer.

This is now a continuous ongoing process. Andrew and I  will try and keep status/orders up to date.  Many boards have now gone out.  Some are on their third run. If you would like a board please let Andrew (
lynchaj@yahoo.com) or I (monahan@vitasoft.org) know.

S-100 Buffered Prototype Board
Andrew Lynch and I made a new S-100 Prototype Board that is designed to help take away the initial drudgery of building S-100 prototype boards.  We have laid out the board so all the address and data lines are buffered through 74LS245's or 74LS244's. Most of the common S-100 bus control and status signals are also buffered.  So the user can right away get down to building useful circuits without the bus connection/IC overhead.  Also the board is arranged so a daughter piggyback (no S-100) board can be attached via a series of connectors. This way you can have cheap simple test boards made before you "burn" your own real (more expensive) S-100 board.  If you have a real interest in a board(s) let us know.  A schematic which can be seen here is supplied.  Note these are bare boards. You add chips and other components yourself. There is a wait list for additional boards if and when demand warrants.

S100 Prototyppe Board

A second improved version of this board has been made. See here for more information. Here is a picture of that board:-

Basic S-100 Prototype Board
This a basic S-100 prototyping board (no buffers etc.) has a 9"x4.5" area of PTH for wire wrap or point to point wiring of prototypes.  All pins are exported and includes circuitry for three voltage regulators, +5V, +12V, and -12V.  The SCRs are optional and can be modified by the builder as desired.  The S-100 prototyping boards are $25 each plus $3 shipping in the US.  These S-100 prototype board PCBs are currently all sold and in the hands of builders being tested and used.

S-100 Motherboard

The S-100 backplane is an 8 slot active terminated motherboard for building and/or repairing small S-100 systems.  It is primarily intended for bench-top work to repair and/or build boards without risking valuable legacy S-100 chassis.  The builder supplies their own power supplies, connectors, and other components.  There are links and information available on how to obtain components as needed on the N8VEM wiki and here.  The S-100 prototyping boards are $32 each plus $3 shipping in the US.  The S-100 backplane PCBs are currently all sold and in the hands of builders being tested and used. There is a wait list for additional boards if and when demand warrants.  There currently is no web page section on this board since it is so simple but the schematic can be seen here.

  Cromemco box

Cromemco Z-2 Rack Mount 21 Slot Enclosure:  This is a 19” x 7U (12.25”) high rack mounted enclosure with a 21 slot Cromemco Blitz Bus mother board.  This is a very heavy duty industrial grade enclosure, its front, rear and sides are fabricated with 1/8” thick black anodized aluminum and its internal card cage is equipped with a heavy steel card retainer bar to prevent boards from coming loose during operations.  The motherboard currently only has 11 connectors installed; an additional 10 connectors may be installed to bring the motherboard to a full 21 slot if needed.  Its power supply is one of the biggest and most powerful traditional transformer based S100 power supplies around (see power supply photo).  Its outputs are rated at:  8 volts at 30 amps, +/-15 volts at 15 amps with the limitation that the total load of all 3 outputs shall not exceed 450 watts.  It’s configurable for inputs of 100, 110, 200 and 220 volts AC by rearranging transformer taps on the input.  The card cage is currently mounted in the forward position but can be moved to middle chassis position to make room for internal disk drives if desired (this was done in the Z-2D variant).  This enclosure spent most of its life mounted inside a rack within a clean environment and is in excellent condition for its vintage.  I have original schematics and assembly diagrams.  Priced at $200 (plus shipping and handling) as is condition.

CompuPro Extra Manuals: - Have some extra CompuPro board manual originals.  They are as follows:  Interfacer 3, Interfacer 4, CPU 86/87, CPU Z, Desktop Enclosure & Mother Board, and 2 RAM 16 originals.  Cost of postage if anyone creditability offers to scan them and make them available online for free to anyone that needs them.  Otherwise maybe, $10 each for originals until gone.
